The Wedding Ceilidh
Choosing suitable entertainment, for a wedding or amy other party or celebratio, can be one of the trickiest tasks you'll ever have to perform.
Just think of the things you would have to consider,
Firstly; Providing something that will appeal to a wide range of age groups, from your elderly aunt to your 9 year old second cousin, who has more energy than sense and is hyperactive from the excitement of staying up late.
Next you have to consider that many of the guests will be complete strangers to each other, two different families as well as friends from work and your social circle. Ideally you want to give your guests a chance to mix, something that can 'break the ice' in the easiest possible way without putting them on th spot.
Finally, if you're organising one of the biggest days in your life, then you want to have an event that won't take too much of your precius time on the big day - believe me you'll have other things on your mind.
Well a Ceilidh, I think, ticks all the boxes!
A Ceilidh, pronounced Kay-lee, and to many spelt Caleigh or kaleigh, but correctly spelt is CEILIDH. A Ceilidh, consists of a band and a 'Caller'. It doesn't much matter if you or your guests hve never been to a Ceilidh before as it is the job of the caler to help everyone overcome and feelings of embarrassment pr awkwardness so all will participate and enjoy themselves.
The dances are explained step by step and when the band strikes up the caller will continue to remind you what comes next, but no one minds if a few mistakes are made, it's all part of the fun.
The Foolish Virgins, assisted in the 'Wedding of the Year' finals which took place on 20th September 2009 at The Viking Goole. The event, organised by The Yorkshire Wedding and Party Directory, provided an entertaining afternoon when 'The Foolish Virgins' attempted to teach the finalists to dance. This part of the event was one of the most enjoyable parts of the day, when Bill Sables and his team of musicians got the 8 couples together on the dance floor. The couples certainly enjoyed themselves, they laughed and the stress from the days events seemed to fade away for this short time. The Foolish Virgins were amazing and you only have to ask any of the competition finalists, how much fun this part of the day was.
